What a picture captured during the 250 Lites Class at Glendale, Arizona, where 28-year-old Rj Hampshire of Rockstar Husqvarna won and Team Faith’s 40-year-old Billy Laninovich, although getting lapped, was still able to qualify amongst the best Lites riders comprised of riders half his age! In a sport where age 28 is already a retirement age, RJ winning and Billy qualifying is such a huge feat!

There’s a saying that says “comes with age is the cage,” where former professional supercross or motocross riders transition to 4-wheel racing. The sport is so gnarly and dangerous that getting hurt is imminent. And as the riders grow older, they start to have a wider perspective on life other than just racing; they tend to ride more cautiously, hence they won’t win races. There is a reason that soldiers who are frontliners and are ready to die for the country are young, and the same goes for this sport. Jason Anderson, during the press conference, when asked about whether he thought of sending the quad in one of the rhythm lanes, said he didn’t even think about it because, at his present age, it just causes him anxiety! 

Supercross is one of the most dangerous sports in the world, if not the most dangerous. And to see Hampshire and Laninovich still doing it at the highest level while everyone else at their age is just riding recreationally and for fun at the local tracks is recommendable!
