January 26, 2025 Photo Credit: Feld Entertainment Anaheim, CA, USA (January 25, 2025) Reigning SuperMotocross World Champions, Jett Lawrence of Team Honda HRC Progressive and Haiden Deegan of Team Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, are back on top in round 3 of the Monster Energy Supercross Championship. Heading into the 2025 season, both were expected to be dominating the entire series, with even talks about the season becoming boring and that they might sweep their respective classes. But as it goes, the former had a 12-2 finish while the latter had a 5-3 finish from the first two rounds. Although the season is long, the pressure that surrounds both champions to be perfect and to completely dominate their opponents didn’t happen in the first two rounds. Some are quick to criticize them already because of this. Progressive Insurance Ecstar Suzuki’s Ken Roczen had an amazing ride to end up the 450 Main Event race with second overall, outriding Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Jason Anderson. Roczen also took the red plate, or overall championship standings, with second place, and that would make him the third red plate holder in three rounds. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac, who had a dominating heat race win, suffered with a mediocre start in the main event race, which eventually ended in 7th, and as a result, lost the red plate. But it was Jett Lawrence who systematically picked positions all the way to first place and back to the title hunt to defend his 450 supercross title. Jett and Eli are now tied in third, just 5 points behind Roczen, who is the new overall points leader. In the 250 West class, it was an interesting battle between Haiden Deegan and Red Bull KTM rider Julien Beumer from qualifying, the heat race, and eventually the main! Beumer and Deegan made contact during their heat races that led to the former crashing, and just a few moments later Deegan casing the triple but miraculously was able to keep it on two wheels. Then during the main event, while Deegan was pulling away slowly from Beuemer and the rest of the riders, the rain started to fall. Triumph’s Jordon Smith tipped over in the latter part of the race, which gave Cole Davies of Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing his first podium in his third professional race! Jett Lawrence reclaims the Red Plate in Glendale Arizona

Glendale Arizona (February 11, 2024) Honda USA Racing rider Jett Lawrence reclaims the overall points lead in the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross 450 class organized by Feld Entertainment. It was a highly anticipated duel between him and Red Bull KTM defending 450 champion Chase Sexton, as they are separated only by one point heading into this round. But the battle didn’t materialize, as the reigning champion was found to be nursing an arm injury sustained during practice last week.

The old Chase is gone, and the new Sexton is here. -Mmf Editorial

Red Bull KTM rider Chase Sexton is the first back-to-back Red Plate holder this season. He looked calm and calculated, which is a sign of maturity for the reigning Monster Energy AMA 450 Supercross Champion. Speed has never been an issue for Chase, as he has the ability to just go fast—actually faster than most of his competitors—but he also crashes a lot.
