Indianapolis, Indiana (March 9, 2025) Monster Energy Star Yamaha’s Cooper Webb dominated the 450 Main Event Race with speed, precision, and consistency that made him a two-time premier class champion. Webb went to work early and gapped the rest of the field when he got by Rockstar Energy Gasgas Justin Barcia for the lead and the win. It was Barcia who got the holeshot in the 20-minute plus 2-lap race and eventually finished in 4th for his best finish of the season.
Webb’s teammate Justin Cooper made a career-best 450 class main event race finish with a strong second place. His move from mid-pack to second place gave Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing the top two spots and helped Webb extend his championship points lead to 15 points by finishing between Webb and Red Bull KTM’s Chase Sexton, who crashed in the sand while riding a strong second place; hence, he got passed by Justin Cooper in the final minutes of the race. Sexton eventually did not lose too many championship points for being able to remount on the bike and finish the race in third place.
Cooper Webb now controls the championship with a 15-point gap over Chase Sexton heading into an off weekend of racing.
In the Lites class, it was Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Seth Hammaker who reigned supreme in the first 250 East versus 250 West Shootout of the season. Haiden Deegan, who was the fastest in qualifying and the heat race winner, settled in third place while trying to push to catch Red Bull KTM’s Tom Vialle for second. Deegan extended his points lead in the West division, while Vialle took over the points lead over Max Anstie in the East division.
