Glendale, Ariz., (February 2, 2025) Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Chase Sexton wins his second race of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season to take back the overall championship points lead and the red plate! His consistency in the first Triple Crown event gave him a 3-3-2 score at the packed State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The three races had three different winners: Monster Energy Star Yamaha’s Cooper Webb and Eli Tomac took the race 1 and race 3 wins, while Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki’s Ken Roczen won race 2. It was Cooper Webb’s 1-5-3 that sealed him second overall and Roczen’s 4-1-5 with third overall.
“The first two races were chaos. I had to fight really hard to get to a good position and be on the podium. In the last race I made a dumb mistake and let Eli get by me. Honestly, I’m a little bummed I didn’t win that last race; I wanted that one. But I got the overall win, and that’s what we’re here to do. We’re here to win and get the red plate back, and consistency paid off tonight. My speed was good… we’re in a good spot, and I’m ready to fight for this thing.” – Chase Sexton
In Western Regional 250SX Class racing, Jordon Smith of Triumph Racing won his first of the season and the very first for Triumph as a manufacturer. Triumph becomes the fourth manufacturer to win this season. Although the hype of the Deegan-Beumer war that started last week in Anaheim 2, which continued on social media, was the main focus of the fans, the battle didn’t happen as both riders found themselves making mistakes and on the ground a couple of times as for the Red Bull KTM red plate holder, while being in front or fighting for a better position in all three races. Race 1 and 2 were won by the 17-year-old Cole Davies from New Zealand, who is riding for Monster Energy Star Yamaha, but it was the veteran Jordon Smith who took the race 3 win and the overall. It might have been Davies first win of his career if he had finished at least third in the race, but his crash in the opening laps held him to third overall and his second podium of the season with a 1-1-8. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Haiden Deegan had 3-2-4 race finishes and was good enough for second overall, but it was Smith’s 2-3-1 result that took the overall win and made history as Triumph’s first win!
“It’s unbelievable to get the first win for the Triumph brand… It feels good to be up here and get the win. The track got very tricky. [The track crew] didn’t touch those whoops since this morning, so they were treacherous, but it’s just unbelievable to get this win. The bike is amazing. I think a lot of people may have questioned me leaving Star, but I believed in these guys from day one, and we worked our butts off all [during the] off-season, and it really shows. I’m just so happy to be back up here on the top step.” – Jordon Smith
