Detroit, Mich. (Feb. 15, 2025) It was Monster Energy Star Racing’s Cooper Webb who won the main event in Detroit, Michigan, to grab his first win of the season. The two-time 450 class champion rode a consistent and calculated race, applying the pressure to early leader Ken Roczen, who led most of the 20-minute plus two main event race, and eventually made the pass against Progressive Ecstar Suzuki rider for the win. Webb’s win ties him and Red Bull KTM’s Chase Sexton for the overall championship points standing! Sexton, who hit the start gate and crashed in the first lap, rode a superb race, making it to the final spot of the podium.
In the 250 class, Monster Energy Pro Circuit rider Levi Kitchen won a controversial race as he beat Monster Energy Star Racing’s Max Anstie, who had almost a 7-second lead with almost 3 laps remaining before a red flag was waived from a hard crash of Cameron McAdoo in the whoops. With the new AMA rule in place, the 90% race completion doesn’t apply anymore as it was changed to staggered starts that apply until the 20-minute clock expires before the 2025 season. And since the clock has not expired yet, the race was restarted in staggered formation. This then puts the comfortable lead of Anstie in jeopardy, and Kitchen and Hampshire are right behind his rear fender. The last two sprint laps concluded with Levi Kitchen winning, followed by Max Anstie and then RJ Hampshire.
